Martinez says veto pen won’t strike raises

Gov. Susana Martinez has said she will use her line-item veto power to trim some of the spending in the $6.2 billion budget passed last month by the Legislature. But apparently, she won’t veto raises for state employees.

That’s what Martinez told the conservative blog New Mexico Watchdog on Wednesday.

    Perhaps it is an election year; however, I'm not going to complain that it'll be easier to make sure all of my bills are all paid in the same month! The chips will fall where they do in November.
