Laura Carthy’s Advanced Placement English students at Capital High School were discussing Luis Alberto Urrea’s novel The Hummingbird’s Daughter recently, when the school’s principal stopped by to observe.

Carthy asked how many of her students had attended a Lannan Foundation lecture by Urrea on Nov. 20, and many raised their hands. One commented, “He talks exactly how he talks in the book.”

By not performing the teacher evaluations, the districts are violating the conditions put forth to opt-out of NCLB.

So either live up to your obligation, or opt back into NCLB.

unm did student evaluations of their teachers in the '70s, probably still does? these evaluations were very valued & we could do the same.
