Angelina Quintana, now in her 60s, read books and stories to her daughter, Jacqueline, who in turn read stories to her daughter, Samantha. Angelina is still required to read 15 minutes a night to Jacqueline’s two children — Samantha and her brother, Patrick, who is going into the second grade.
Samantha, 10, who enters the fifth grade at Chaparral Elementary School come August, loves to read. “I like learning and going into different worlds every time,” she said, adding that she reads The New Mexican every day and had just finished a book called Cats of Tanglewood Forest. She averages five books a week.
