Capital High School teachers Jaime Holladay and Meredith Tilp didn’t know why they were called to the front of the south-side school gymnasium, which was filled with high school seniors and their families.
Befuddlement spread across their faces as Capital High School Principal Channell Wilson-Segura announced that each had won a Teachers Who Inspire award from the nonprofit Partners in Education — a main reason for the after-school event. Holladay and Tilp had been told that the gathering was an awards night for students only.
