Santa Fe’s labor force sometimes leads the rest of New Mexico, and it sometimes follows. New data for February show it is pretty much in sync with the rest of New Mexico, which has stalled considerably from a year ago with a decline of 1,900 jobs from February 2013 to February 2014.
The February numbers keep New Mexico last in the United States in employment growth and one of only three states — along with Kentucky and Virginia — to show negative job growth.
