On Saturday night everyone who isn’t attending the gala is invited to a free screening of the zombie flick The Dead Can’t Dance, sponsored by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian and SWAIA. “SWAIA recognizes all of the arts, so it’s great to recognize filmmakers as well as visual artists,” Tailinh Agoyo said.
Filmmaker Rodrick Pocowatchit, an alumnus of the Sundance Institute’s prestigious screenwriting program and Native American and Indigenous Program, spoke about The Dead Can’t Dance by phone from Wichita, Kansas.
