Community memberships include a general fitness assessment, group fitness classes and program set ups of one half-hour each by certified fitness instructors for cardio and weight programs. Members may sign up for extended personal training at additional cost.
Members must complete a health history and release form. Those with a history of medical problems, currently taking medication or possessing risk factor for heart disease must obtain a written physician's release.
All members must be at least 18 years of age. The gym is open to all members Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, 8 a.m. to noon. Various classes and supervised activities, including Zumba are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday, depending on instructor availability.
You must become a member to use the gym. Memberships, which allow unlimited use of the gym, run $470 for 12 months, $275 for six months, $145 for three months and $30 for 10 visits. Long-term memberships of at least three months may be placed on hold for a minimum of two weeks at a time, should the need arise.

When Lou Frosh’s doctor referred him to the gym at what was then St. Vincent Regional Hospital in 1993, he expected to spend 12 weeks, three times a week in out-patient rehab for a heart attack. Twenty years later, now 92 and a community member, Frosh still comes to the gym most Monday and Friday afternoons.
Center for Living Well gym is one of Santa Fe’s best-kept secrets. It is located in the basement of the lower level on the southeast side of the hospital, now called Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center. Most people initially are sent to the gym by their doctors because of cardiac and/or pulmonary problems. Medicare or other insurance programs usually cover those assignments.
