Program helps New Mexico teens experience life abroad

Taking a gap year wasn’t always an option for high school graduates. Before the 1960s, when the idea was first introduced, students graduated high school and went straight to college or the workforce or the military.

Even now, though taking a year off before college has become more commonplace, it is often more of a financial reality for affluent students. In New Mexico, an organization is working to change that. Love One Love All, or LOLA, was developed about four years ago to provide incoming college freshmen with the opportunity to experience world travel.
