Fire dancing sparks SFHS sophomore’s interest

Mateo Martinez’s philosophy is, “We don’t know when we’re going to go — might as well live today.”

And so the rising sophomore at Santa Fe High School is already a two-sport varsity athlete, a national-caliber triathlete and New Zealand-style fire dancer. He began participating in children’s triathlons back in the 5th grade and has already taken part in about 20 of events in New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado.
