Walk in the front door of this house by architect Robert Zachry and builder Cal Thompson and you’re confronted with a spectacular version of “open concept.” The room before you is 25 feet wide and more than 70 feet long, with lots of glass and, approximately in the middle, a stainless-steel kitchen by Arclinea.

The gleaming space, with hand-plastered walls and a floor of Israeli limestone, is the heart of this project on Indian Rock Lane. The house — 5,640 heated square feet, with three bedrooms — is a contemporary gesture made up of slabs and slots, the wall masses perforated with square windows. It was completed in 2009.
