Single dad seeks help with home heating costs

Chris has been working as a counselor for drug addicts and alcoholics. But he blames state budget cuts to mental health programs for a decline in his income in the past few years.

He has had a hard time keeping up with his bills, and recently his natural gas was shut off. Chris, 58, has joint custody of his daughter, but because of the cold weather and the lack of heat in his home, she hasn’t stayed with him the past few weeks.

STARTING NOVEMBER 1:

Look for links at the top of this page to complete your application online. Applicants who do not have access to a computer can complete an application online at several public libraries and businesses free of charge.

Santa Fe Public Library - Main Branch  145 Washington Ave.

New Mexico Work Force Connection  301 W. DeVargas St.

All applications must be received by December 5th to be considered by the Empty Stocking Fund Committee. The Empty Stocking Fund will consider every applicant who meets the eligibility criteria, without regard to race, creed, place or country of origin, age, disability, ethnicity, color, gender identity, marital status or sexual orientation. Applicants must provide a social security number or their request will not be funded.
