In order to vote, you must be a U.S. citizen, 18 years old by Election Day and a resident of the state where you vote. Individuals who have been convicted of felony offenses lose their right to vote until after they have completed the terms and conditions imposed by the court. In New Mexico, registration is open until 28 days before an election.

You can register to vote by going to your county clerk's office or other voter registration sites, or you can download the National Voter Registration Application through the New Mexico Secretary of State's website. ABSENTEE BALLOTS

An absentee ballot is a way to vote if you are unable to get to your polling place on Election Day. You must request and file an absentee ballot application from your county clerk or city clerk (for municipal elections) by 5 p.m. on the Friday prior to the election.

For more information about voting and to download a voter registration form or absentee ballot application, visit http://www.sos.state.nm.us/sos-VoterReg.html
