From The Santa Fe New Mexican
November 8, 1959: Widening of the Tesuque-Pojoaque highway to four lanes was advertised for bids along with five other road projects as the Highway Department ended a four-month freeze on new construction. The project, which will complete the four-lane route from Santa Fe through the Pojoaque junction toward Espanola, is expected to cost $1.3 million.
November 8, 1984: Albuquerque — Fred Mondragon says he'll quit as New Mexico Democratic Party chairman unless Gov. Toney Anaya and other liberal leaders start tempering their views and mend fences with moderates. The party must heed voters' message in Tuesday's general election or lose its state dominance, he said. Mondragon, whose term expires in April, said his party doesn't have a single leader to look to and there is a growing schism between liberal and moderate camps.
