Anothy Adkins’ love of playing in the snow is infectious. Even grown-ups who now cringe at the thought of plowing their way through the white stuff can share his happiness as he makes (and names!) snowmen and gleefully “wrecks the halls” over the Christmas holiday.
My favorite part about winter is all the amusement you can have playing in the snow. There is a gigantic amount of different things you can do. I like it when my sister and I get into a snowball fight and make snow angels. My favorite holiday in winter is Christmas.
The reason I like Christmas is because you get presents if you're good. You get to have fun. You get to tear up presents. You get to get hyped up on cookies. You get to wreck the house. You get to play in the snow. You get to have snow days, and then I get to go to work with my mom and have an amazing time. Also during Christmas I get to go to Ohio to visit my dad. We have lots of fun together and I always get just what I want from Santa Claus and my dad.
When I go to Ohio in the winter, I go sledding down a big hill at my dad's house. I also visit my family, but my dad has to drive us to Florida. In Ohio, I make snowmen. I make their faces out of charcoal and carrots. I also play with my cousins in Ohio and we have a wonderful amount of good times.
Last year in winter my sister and I played in the snow. We made a snowman and named him Billy Beau Bob Jack Edgar Alan Poe Paul Whitman Jr. the 16th. The snowman was very big; he was about four feet tall. We made his face with charcoal eyes and mouth and a carrot nose. We also made snow angels. We lay down in the snow and moved our arms and legs. My sister did it all wrong, though, so her snow angel ended up looking like a snow monster.
Those are some of the reasons why winter is one of my favorite seasons of the year. Winter is so much amusement to me that it is sad it only comes once a year — so when it gets close to winter, I'm really happy.
Anthony "A.J." Adkins, 9, is in the fourth grade at
