While formal-wear boutiques are the first place many high-school students go to shop for their gowns or tuxedos, there are those who instead visit their local hardware store.Duct-tape attire has been a part of prom tradition for many years.
Creating suitable duct-tape clothing takes creativity, planning and above all, patience. For particularly imaginative outfits, there lies a payoff besides being the talk of the dance.
The Henkel Corp., is sponsoring its eighth annual "Stuck at Prom" national duct-tape scholarship contest (www.stuckatprom.com). The winning couple (in addition to the prom-hosting school) will each receive $3,000 in cash. Why, with that amount you could create an entire duct-tape wardrobe!
Visitors to the Stuck at Prom Web site can view a photo archive of previous entries, which can be sorted by year and state and get a copy of the rules and entry forms. You'll be amazed at the ingenuity and complexity of some of the garments all made with tape!
The site also includes accessory-making tips and a video of last year's contest winners.
The deadline for entry is June 11, so if you want to enter, start stickin'.
