Dream House is a new psychological thriller — just in time for Halloween. Starring Daniel Craig as Will Atenton, the film unfolds as Will quits his publishing company job so he can spend more time with his family and write his own novel. But as he spends time at his new home, things begin to change for Will and his very own psychosis breaks down.
Dream House is not a conventional horror flick. It rarely uses deformed figures or creepy sounds to scare viewers.
However, a few loud bangs were enough to get my adrenaline flowing. The movie is more of a murder-mystery story, where moviegoers constantly receive clues to unravel the ending. Although a big shock is revealed in the middle if the film, the story line remains uninterrupted and flows smoothly afterward.
In a way, the movie was a disappointment because I went into the theater looking for a haunted-house horror film. Dream House is so much more than that, though. Dream House is a witty thriller with an above average story line and cast, making it a knockout in the thriller category.
