Squarepusher is the stage name for English electro-jazz artist Tom Jenkinson. Squarepusher has released 13 studio albums, with a new album coming out in October 2011. One of these 13 albums is entitled Hello Everything and was released in 2006.

Now I'm going to flat-out say it right now — I find most electronic music boring and dull, but Hello Everything sounds new and innovative. As you might guess, I know nothing about electronic music, but the combination of jazz influence and catchy techno hooks is a recipe for an album best served chilled.

As much fun as songs like "Hello Meow" and "Bubble Life" are, the recipe starts to sound old and repetitive. These songs, which have the same blueprint, seem to run together.

Thankfully, there are songs that stands out from those two like "Circlewave 2," which features some great guitar work, and "Theme From Sprite," which has a very upbeat funky vibe to it. The one big disappointment of the album is the song "Vacuum Garden."

The latter half of the album features some great drum work on "Rotate Electrolyte" along with some interesting backward playback. "Plotinus" is an interesting take on standard jazz songs. The interesting parts come in when the drum machine comes in and makes everything sound much less like jazz and more like electronic music but still keeps the themes from the previous couple of minutes.

These songs not only provide an good listen but if you listen to the subtleties in each song, they sound like professionally recorded jazz pieces with crazy electronic stuff done over them.
