Kirby Super Star was released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System on Sept. 20, 1996, by publisher Nintendo. Developed by HAL Laboratory, Kirby was a game to be remembered in a time when Platformers were largely being pushed aside for more action-oriented games on newer consoles.
Kirby is a pink puff ball, or cream puff if you will, who can swallow his enemies to gain their powers to help him along his journey in the game. These can be anything ranging from being able to turn into stone statues (which makes you invulnerable to attacks) to becoming a ninja. He has the power of flight for however long he wants and when he exhales it can be used to do damage to the countless opponents throughout the game.
Kirby Super Star is eight fun-filled games on one cartridge. These eight games all have different stories and all can be finished fairly quickly, maybe two or three hours max.
The replay value of all of these games will keep you coming back for years. The games differ and go from destroying a huge death ship in Metaknights Revenge to trying to stop the sun and moon from fighting in Milkyway Wishes.
HAL Laboratory outdid itself with this game, which has recently been ported to the Nintendo DS. The stories themselves seem a bit dull, and the earlier ones you have to play to open the longer stories are a bit dull at first and only take a minimum amount of time to beat. But the later stories make up for this loss of time by being excessively fun and original for their time.
