"You have technicians here making noise, no one is a musician, they're not artists because nobody can play the guitar," goes one of the lyrics of the techno, dance album Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites by Skrillex.
These lyrics describe a less-than-satisfactory album. I found this album surfing around on iTunes and decided to buy it after reading the rave customer reviews about how they couldn't stop listening to it. Well, I'm not about to give the album one of those rave reviews because, frankly, it was terrible.
First of all, there are too many themes. "All I Ask For You" sounds like a moderately fair dance techno song, but then is followed by "Kill Everybody," which relies too heavily on a synthesized bass.
"With You, Friends" doesn't have any techno beat, but rather is just inaudible synthesized lyrics; whereas the song "Scatta" sounds like a bad rap song with too much techno influence.
The second reason why the album is bad: It is a rip-off. You are paying for nine songs but three of them are remixes. Listening to the album, I felt as if I was listening to the same song over and over again.
This is album is not worth buying — save your money and get real music that includes singers, guitars or a better understanding of GarageBand.
