'If there was one female writer who touches my heart — as well as the hearts of many others — it is author Lauren Myracle, who writes for both teens and preteens.

One of the author's most popular series is her instant messaging series, which includes ttyl, bff and l8r, g8r.

The series, or "adventure," begins during the three main characters' sophomore year of high school. The inseparable friends — Maddie, Angela and Zoë — call themselves "the wisdom-threesome." But, because the series is entirely written in instant messages, the three characters are referred to as madmaddie, snowangel and zoegirl, respectively.

As the three characters begin their sophomore year, everything falls apart: There are fights and unforeseen problems that lead the girls to think they might not be as inseparable as they thought. One problem that overshadows all the rest, however, is Jana, a lying, manipulative mean girl.

Throughout the book, the three learn they aren't the only people having issues with Jana, who's mean to everybody, even her boyfriend and best friend.

The series is laugh-out-loud funny and serious at times. It's a pleasure for most readers.
