High School TennisThe pre-district 2AAA tennis quadrangular was held this weekend at Capital and Santa Fe high schools. In the girls tournament, Santa Fe Prep came in first, Robertson second, St. Michael's third and Raton fourth. Robertson took first in the boys tournament, St. Michael's second, Santa Fe Prep third and Raton fourth.
Track and Field
Teams from across the state were on the bus again this past weekend heading to Pecos to participate in the Northern Rio Grande Invite. Pecos took first in the girls meet, Santa Fe Indian School second and Peñasco third.
In the boys meet, Mesa Vista took first, Dulce second and Peñasco third. All track teams will be going to their respective district meets this weekend. Check with your school for where they will be going.
NFL Draft
The National Football League Draft concluded last weekend. The top pick was made by the Miami Dolphins for offensive tackle Jake Long from the University of Michigan.
The second pick was made by the St. Louis Rams for University of Virginia defensive end Chris Long. The Atlanta Falcons selected Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan.
Major League Baseball
Baseball season is under way, and the early division leaders in the American League as of Sunday are: the Baltimore Orioles in the East; the Chicago White Sox in the Central; and the Los Angeles Angels in the West. In the National League, the Florida Marlins lead the East; the Chicago Cubs are tops in the Central; and the Arizona Diamondbacks lead the West. English Premier League Soccer
Check out some of the best soccer in the world: the English Premier League. The competition is intense, making it an exciting sport to watch and follow.
