One little tweak has done wonders for Sarah Galano.
The junior pitcher for the Santa Fe High softball team changed her release and is finding a lot more than better control.
Galano showed that off as she hit only one batter while firing a no-hitter against Capital in a 15-0 win that ended after three innings. It was Capital's season opener.
Control was an issue with Galano last year, but Demonettes head coach Sig Rivera said she changed her release point. The changes have been imminent.
"Now she's throwing a lot harder and a lot better," Rivera said. "I'm really happy with the way she's going."
Santa Fe High (3-2) got its offense cranking quickly, with four runs in the first inning, three in the second and eight in the final frame to invoke the 15-run mercy rule.
Galano headlined the hitting attack with a two-run home run. Marquel Aragon, Teddy Trujillo and Lauren Salazar each had two RBIs as they battered Lady Jaguars freshman pitcher Fabiola Garcia-Lopez in her debut.
"Not only is this the first time she's taken the mound, but it's the first time she's played," Capital head coach Ina Mirabal said. "She was a little bit nervous, but it'll come. She's as raw as you can get them."
