Tony Abreu proved to be the bullpen's best friend Saturday night in Memphis.

Abreu unloaded the bases with a ninth-inning triple, as Albuquerque pulled away for a 7-2 victory over Memphis in Pacific Coast League baseball at AutoZone Park.

The Isotopes took a 3-2 lead into the top of the ninth.

J.D. Closser led off with a double and Juan Gonzales was intentionally walked. A.J. Ellis sacrificed the runners to second and third before Jason Repko drew a free pass. Abreu followed with a triple to right and scored when Memphis catcher Matt Pagnozzi mishandled the throw from the outfield.

Albuquerque (45-43) never trailed in the penultimate game before the Triple-A All-Star break. The Isotopes took a 2-0 advantage on Chin-Lung Hu's two-run single in the third. The lead lasted until the sixth, when the Redbirds scored twice. Albuquerque untied the knot on Abreu's run-scoring ground out in the seventh.

Abreu finished with a double, triple and four RBIs.

Eric Stults earned the victory. Stults (1-1), the starter, lasted six innings. He surrendered six hits, walked two and struck out eight. Scott Strickland worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the ninth.

Memphis also left the bases loaded in the eight. The Redbirds stranded 10 runners.

Clayton Mortensen suffered the loss.

Albuquerque (45-43) and Memphis (43-45) concluded the series with an afternoon matinee. Jason Schmidt (2-0) takes the mound for the Isotopes.

Following the All-Star break, Albuquerque begins a four-game home stand with New Orleans on Thursday.
