SOUTH BEND, Ind. — Notre Dame regained a bit of its confidence, while No. 5 Louisville appeared to lose some in one of the most thorough whippings head coach Rick Pitino remembers a team of his experiencing.

"This victory, while humiliating to us, can propel them into something good," Pitino said. "I'm happy for them. I'm really upset at our players. The way we practiced going into this game and the way we played tonight, our five men were just totally dominated."

Luke Harangody had 32 points and 17 rebounds and Notre Dame shot 54 percent, the best any team has shot against Louisville this season, as the Fighting Irish won 90-57 to end a seven-game losing streak.

"I think to say we needed that would be the understatement of the year," Irish head coach Mike Brey said.

Pitino said he was concerned about how Notre Dame would come out because the Irish were so desperate.

"I thought we were going into a hornets' nest. I didn't think we were going into an earthquake," he said.

The 33-point victory is the largest ever for Notre Dame (13-10, 4-7 Big East) against a league opponent. It was the second loss in three games for the Cardinals (18-5, 9-2).

Pitino credited the Irish for their play, but clearly was upset with his team. Asked if he would skip having the team watch the tape because the game was so lopsided, Pitino said he would make them watch.

"Because they humiliated themselves they're going to watch it again," he said.

Pitino said his team, especially his upperclassmen, hasn't been listening and hasn't been practicing with a purpose, saying the Cardinals are lucky to be 9-2 in the league.

Brey said the Irish finally looked like the team he had seen earlier this season when the Irish were ranked as high as No. 7.

"This group really knows how to play on the offensive end," he said. "I thought tonight we were really focused on it. You're hoping that can kick start you a little bit. But it was nice to see our offensive rhythm because that's how we play and how we need to play against teams in this league."

No. 18 Arizona State 74, No. 11 UCLA 67

In Tempe, Ariz., Derek Glasser scored 15 points, including a clutch 3-pointer, and the Sun Devils defeated the Bruins.

Arizona State hit 11 3-pointers, none bigger than Glasser's from the right corner with 1:12 remaining that gave the Sun Devils a 69-67 lead.

James Harden scored 15 points and had a career-high 11 assists as Arizona State (19-5, 8-4) became the first Pac-10 team to sweep the season series with UCLA since Washington in 2005-06.

When the game ended, Harden mounted the press table to wave to the hundreds of students who rushed the court.

Josh Shipp had 16 points and Darren Collison and Michael Roll each added 15 for the Bruins (19-5, 8-3), who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

No. 22 Illinois 60, Northwestern 59

In Evanston, Ill., Demetri McCamey scored 19 points and banked in the go-ahead jumper with 2.9 seconds left and the Illini rallied from 14 points down to beat the Wildcats.

Trent Meacham scored 12 of his 15 points in the final 5 minutes as the Illini (20-5, 8-4 Big Ten) rallied from a 57-43 deficit.

He hit a 3-pointer from the corner with a minute left and added a layup to make it a one-point game with 42.6 seconds left after a turnover by Northwestern (13-9, 4-7). Meacham then stripped Michael Thompson underneath the Wildcats basket with 14.7 seconds left, and he found McCamey on the right wing for the winning jumper.

No. 21 Utah State 62, Idaho 53

In Moscow, Idaho, Gary Wilkinson had 17 points and 10 rebounds and the Aggies escaped with a win over Idaho to extend the nation's longest winning streak to 19 games.

Jared Quayle added 12 points for the Aggies (24-1, 12-0), who clinched at least a share of their second straight Western Athletic Conference title.

Mac Hopson scored 17 points to lead Idaho (10-13, 4-6), which was done in by poor rebounding as it sought to beat a ranked opponent for the first time since 1982. The Vandals were outrebounded 40-21.
