Of the first-inning damage inflicted on the Albuquerque Isotopes on Saturday, two of the three homers could be considered friendly fire.

New Orleans hit three home runs in its first at-bat and went on to beat Albuquerque 5-1 in Pacific Coast League baseball at Zephyr Field.

The loss snapped a modest three-game winning streak for the Isotopes.

Of the three home runs, two came from former Isotopes. Chris Aguila, once a valuable prospect in the Florida Marlins organization, hit his 19th, while Valentino Pascucci, a power-hitting farmhand, also hit his 19th. Anderson Machado led off the bottom of the first with a solo shot, his third of the season.

It was all the support Brandon Knight (5-1) would need as he went six innings and allowed just six hits.

Chris Seddon (7-7) suffered the loss, and managed just 2 1/3 innings, giving up five runs on five hits. He also walked four hitters.

The only scratch on the scoreboard for the Isotopes came in the top of the eighth, on a Tagg Bozied run-scoring single. Albuquerque (43-57) managed just five hits off four Zephyrs pitchers.

The Zephyrs are 48-53.

After them, le déluge

In the war waged in Christopher Hampton's Les Liaisons Dangereuses, the battlefield is the bedroom, and the choice of weapons is sex. The lead players, the Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont, use seduction to destroy the reputation, the character, and the emotional well-being of a number of other dramatis personae, including the innocent 15-year-old Cécile Volanges and her suitor, the Chevalier Danceny. These liaisons go beyond being just risky, naughty, and erotic; they ultimately bring about the downfall of just about everyone involved.  »Story
