The Big Game: Sandia vs. Santa Fe High

The Demons earned their first state tournament appearance in baseball since 1977 with a doubleheader split with Albuquerque Sandia on Saturday in District 2AAAAA play. Santa Fe beat the Matadors 8-5 in Game 1 and lost Game 2, 14-12, to clinch third place in 2AAAAA.


Northstar: The Week's Top Performer

Pojoaque Valley eighth-grader Kassie Martinez hit the first two home runs of her varsity career in a 16-13 victory in a District 2AAA doubleheader on Saturday. Martinez was also the winning pitcher in Game 2. She tallied six RBIs to help Pojoaque split with West Las Vegas.
