Just days after starting service in Santa Fe, the New Mexico Rail Runner Express will offer opportunities for children to have their photo taken with Santa Claus for free aboard a train parked at the Santa Fe Depot on Saturday.

The photos will be taken from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Railyard location, according to an announcement from the Mid-Region Council of Governments, which is overseeing the commuter-train operation.

Executive Director Lawrence Rael said a similar photos-with-Santa Claus event is scheduled simultaneously on Saturday at the downtown Albuquerque Rail Runner station.

"We've had a tremendous response to Christmas photos with Santa on the Rail Runner the past three years in Albuquerque," he said, "and we're ready to start letting Santa Fe families enjoy the same treat."
