The political balance in both houses of the Legislature shifted a bit with this year's election. Democrats in the Senate picked up three seats, giving them a 27-15 edge. In the House, the Democrats also picked up three seats, making the breakdown 45-25.

NEW MEMBERS

House

• Brian Egolf, D-Santa Fe, will replace Peter Wirth, another Santa Fe Democrat who is moving to the Senate.

• Eleanor Chavez, an Albuquerque Democrat, will replace Dan Silva, a Democrat.

• Bill O'Neill, D-Albuquerque, will replace Teresa Zanetti, a Republican.

• Karen Giannini, D-Albuquerque, will replace Justine Fox-Young, a Republican.

• Benjamin Rodefer, a Corrales Democrat, will replace Republican Eric Youngberg.

• Jack Thomas, D-Rio Rancho, will replace Democrat Tom Swisstack, now the mayor of Rio Rancho.

• Sandra Jeff, a Democrat from Crownpoint, will replace John Pena, also a Democrat.

• Eliseo Alcon, a Milan Democrat, will replace George Hanosh, a Democrat.

• Dennis Kintigh, a Roswell Republican, will replace Dan Foley, also a Republican.

• Dennis Roch, a Tucumcari Republican, will replace Brian Moore, also a Republican.

Senate

• Peter Wirth, a Santa Fe Democrat, will replace John Grubesic, also a Democrat.

• Tim Eichenberg, an Albuquerque Democrat, will replace Republican Diane Snyder.

• Eric Griego, an Albuquerque Democrat, will replace James Taylor, a Democrat.

• Tim Keller, D-Albuquerque, will replace Shannon Robinson, D-Albuquerque.

• Republican Sander Rue of Albuquerque will replace Joe Carraro, a Republican

• George Muñoz, a Democrat from Gallup, will replace Lidio Rainaldi, also a Democrat.

• John Sapien, A Corrales Democrat, will replace Steve Komadina, a Republican.

• Stephen Fischmann, a Democrat from Las Cruces, will replace Republican Leonard Lee Rawson.
