Have you ever tried to enroll your child in Medicaid only to find that your household income is too high?

Well, this summer the state rolled out another option: Premium Assistance for Kids, or PAK.

The state partnered with insurance carriers to go on the road to educate families about this new Insure New Mexico program.

Outreach events were planned from May to August in 17 locations around the state. The message: "With the New Mexikids and Premium Assistance for Kids programs, there is no reason any child in New Mexico should go without health insurance," Human Services Department Secretary Pamela Hyde said.

The exception: Children who aren't U.S. citizens. Because federal money is involved, proof of citizenship is required.
