Niloufer Ichaporia King will be in Santa Fe for a few days to promote her book, My Bombay Kitchen: Traditional and Modern Parsi Home Cooking, with a foreword by Alice Waters.

King was born in Bombay, now called Mumbai, but has lived in the United States since leaving India 45 years ago. Parsis are Zoroastrians who left Persia for India after the Muslims conquered their country in the 7th century.

* 8 a.m. Friday: Listen to King on Santa Fe Radio Café (KSFR 101.1 FM) with host Mary-Charlotte, broadcasting from the Santa Fe Baking Co., 504 W. Cordova Road.

* 3 p.m. Saturday:
Join King for a book signing at Garcia Street Books, 376 Garcia St. King will serve Parsi hors d'oeuvres, and she will sign books. Free. For more information, call 986-0151.

* 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday: Join Slow Food Santa Fe for a brunch at a home on West Alameda Street, prepared by King. She will also talk about Parsi food and sign copies of her book. * 6 p.m. Monday: Cook with King at a hands-on class at Las Cosas Kitchen Shoppe, DeVargas Center. The menu for "Cooking from My Bombay Kitchen" includes roasted cashews with ajwain, goat cheese toasts with fresh pickled turmeric, smoky grilled quail, roasted squash crescents with curry leaves, caramelized rice pilaf and more.
