A list of activities, mostly scheduled in May, designated as Heritage Preservation Month:

• "A Visit with FDR and the New Deal," a Chautauqua presentation of President Franklin Roosevelt by Richard Marold at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture in Santa Fe at 2 p.m. today.

• Governor's Gallery on the fourth floor of the Capitol in Santa Fe displays New Deal art commissioned in New Mexico through May 18. The gallery is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

• The 36th annual Heritage Preservation Awards honor preservation achievements at the Scottish Rite Temple in Santa Fe at 2 p.m. May 2.

• Columbus honors its New Deal-era city hall with a tour of historic spots around town, beginning at Pancho Villa State Park at 10 a.m. May 3.

• Various events commemorating the CCC's terracing and landscaping work at Elephant Butte Dam near Truth of Consequences, May 3-10.

• CCC veteran Dick Van Hart discusses his experiences at Coronado Sate Monument near Albuquerque at 2 p.m. May 8. A tour of the monument's John Gaw Meem-designed visitors center will be led by Albuquerque architect G.L. Castillo.

• National Park Service historical architect Victoria Jacobson talks about the CCC buildings during a lecture at Petroglyphs National Monument in Albuquerque on May 10.

• Truth or Consequences honors its bathhouse history with the unveiling of a sign denoting its historic district with a celebration of the Foch Senior Center, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. May 10.

• Bandelier National Monument, Los Alamos, will hold 1 1/2-hour walking tours of its CCC-built buildings — more than any other national park — beginning at 2 p.m. May 10-17.

• Presentation the CCC's work on fences, troughs and other facilities along the Magdalena Cattle Trail beginning at the Datil schoolhouse at 5 p.m. May 15.

• El Morro National Monument, Ramah, N.M., will conduct a guided tour, including the steps carved into rock by New Deal crews, from 10 a.m. to noon May 17.

• New Mexico Architectural Foundation hosts talk on New Deal Architecture and tours Roosevelt Park, which was transformed from a rocky arroyo to a green park by the CCC. Begins at Heights Community Center in Albuquerque on May 22.

• New Deal memorial party and Randall Davey birthday celebration at Randall Davey Audubon Center at the east end of Upper Canyon Road in Santa Fe at 5 p.m. May 23.

• The London Frontier Theater performs "The Luck of the Lost Creek Wife" — depicting life in southwestern New Mexico during the Great Depression — at Sandia Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque at 4 p.m. May 24. Call National New Deal Preservation at 473-3985 for more information.

• The CCC-built lodge at Hyde Memorial State Park — named for Santa Fe scoutmaster Benjamin Hyde whose widow donated land for the park — will be open for tours on May 29.

• Silver City, Artesia, Carlsbad and Clayton host a traveling photo display of New Deal Art from around the state. Check with local Mainstreet organizations for dates and times.
