Felines & Friends New Mexico: Gris, the loyal companion of an artist who recently died of cancer, is a gentle cat who continues to grieve the loss of his human guardian. The Maine coon handsome boy would do well in a quiet, loving home with someone willing to give him time to adjust to the loss of the only home he's ever had. Justin, a rescued with his mother and two other littermates, is sweet and playful. He's a handsome boy with a medium-length black-and-white coat.

Special adoption events: Animal-welfare groups and area shelters will join together this weekend for a multiagency adoption event at PetSmart on Zafarano Drive. The event, with an estimated 80-90 cats and dogs of all breeds and ages, runs from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. All animals are fully vetted, altered and microchipped. All adopters will receive a free bag of pet food courtesy of PetSmart.
