A spokesman for Sen. Barack Obama's campaign in New Mexico confirmed the Democratic presidential candidate is scheduled to visit Santa Fe and Albuquerque on Friday but said logistics are still being worked out.

Sen. Hillary Clinton's husband, former President Clinton, will make a public appearance in Albuquerque on Thursday, a spokeswoman for her campaign said Monday. Details have yet to be confirmed.

On Monday, Obama won endorsements from several New Mexicans, including state Sen. Jerry Ortiz y Pino, D-Albuquerque; former state Sen. Leonard Tsosie, D-Crownpoint; and some of Gov. Bill Richardson's cabinet secretaries, including Transportation Secretary Rhonda Faught, Aging and Long-Term Services Secretary-designate Cindy Padilla and former Indian Affairs Secretary Benny Shendo, who recently resigned to run for Congress in the Third Congressional District.

Secretary of State Mary Herrera on Monday endorsed Clinton.

The circle will be unbroken

Charles MacKay became Santa Fe Opera's third general director on Oct. 1, 2008. Looked at one way, that means he'll have been on the job just 276 days when the 2009 season opens on Friday, July 3. On the other hand, there's an excellent case to be made that MacKay has been preparing for this position, sometimes on the job, for quite a bit longer. Try 40-some years. »Story
