At 6 p.m. on April 20, the feast without the yeast will be held at the Temple Beth Shalom Community Passover Seder.
The Passover Seder is a unique opportunity to share "a night different from all other nights" with friends and family. This most popular of Jewish festivals celebrates the Exodus from Egypt: a journey from the pain of slavery to the joy of freedom.
Led by Rabbi Marvin Schwab, the interactive Seder features a kosher-style traditional meal catered by Peas'n'Pod, participation in readings and song, and treats for the children.
A vegetarian option is available.
Space is limited, so reservations are necessary. The deadline is Tuesday.
The cost for the seder is $45 for adults, $20 for children 13 and under.
For more information or to make reservations, send an e-mail to reception@sftbs.org or call call 982-1376.
The temple is at 205 E. Barcelona Road, between Old Pecos Trail and Don Gaspar Ave.
Observant Jews celebrate Passover from April 19-27 by abstaining from leavened
grains and eating Matzoh.
The HaMakom congregation is recommending more Matzoh as it hosts its annual Matzoh Brittle Fundraiser. Using Rabbi Malka Drucker's secret recipe, orders will be taken for regular, chocolate and spelt matzoh brittle. The cost is $15-$18 per box. Baking will take place this Sunday under the direction of Erica Zvaifler.
Matzoh Brittle will be on sale from 10 a.m. until noon on Sunday at St. Bede's Episcopal Church, 1601 S. St. Francis Drive at San Mateo Road. It also will be on sale from 4 to 5 p.m. on April 19 — before the HaMakom Community Seder.
To order Matazoh Brittle online, visit the Web site at www.hamakomtheplace.org or call
