Shelter's camp offers hands-on experience

Kids who love animals will get hands-on experience at an animal shelter during a weeklong camp in July.

The Española Valley Humane Society's camp offers children ages 6 to 12 a chance to work directly with animal-related professionals, including dog trainers, veterinarians and groomers. Campers also will have a chance to do other creative endeavors such as arts and crafts and construction.

There are only a few spots available for the camp, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. the week of July 6. Cost is $150, which includes all supplies, lunches and a T-shirt.
