The Santa Fe Police Department is investigating the following reports:
• Officers arrested Eric Martinez, 25, of Española on Wednesday and charged him with battery on a household member, criminal damage to property and interference with communications.
• Police arrested Candace Chacon, 28, 6 Ramada Way, and Jose S. Gomez, 23, of Chimayó on Wednesday after receiving reports of a man and woman fleeing a burglary in the 300 block of Camino Cerrito. Both ran from officers and each was later caught with a loaded syringe of heroin in their possession, police said. Each was charged with burglary, conspiracy, resisting arrest, receiving stolen property, criminal damage to property and possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Officers arrested Jose R. Gomez, 22, 942 Galisteo St., on Wednesday and charged him with burglary and larceny.
• Jewelry was stolen Nov. 6 from a residence in the 800 block of Old Santa Fe Trail.
• A video game system and a laptop computer were stolen Tuesday from a home in the 4500 block of Arroyo Sonrisa.
• A house in the 1400 block of Agua Fría Street caught on fire Tuesday. A police report said arson was suspected.
• A pre-paid phone card and cigarettes were among the items stolen Wednesday from El Paisano Market, 3140 Cerrillos Road.
The Santa Fe County Sheriff's Department is investigating the following reports:
• Four heavy-equipment batteries valued at $4,500 were stolen Thursday from a construction site on Old Las Vegas Highway.
• A flat-screen television, a laptop computer and three cameras were stolen Tuesday from a residence on Shasta Lane.
• A video game system and a video game were stolen Tuesday from a residence on Peaceful Drive in Edgewood.
• Power tools were stolen Wednesday from a residence on Deer Mountain Road in Edgewood.
• Deputies arrested Bruce Becker, 60, address unavailable, on Wednesday and charged him with battery on a police officer after he allegedly struck a corrections officer at the Santa Fe County jail.
The Española Police Department is investigating the following report:
• Police arrested Emilio Martinez, 21, of La Madera on Monday and charged him with fraud and forgery. Martinez allegedly altered a prescription for Oxycodone at a pharmacy in Española.
DWI arrests
• Deputies arrested Jason Madrid, 30, of Santa Fe on Wednesday and charged him with aggravated driving while intoxicated. Madrid's breath alcohol content was .16, double the legal driving limit. Madrid was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint on Interstate 25 near Eldorado.
• Michael Schweigman, 26, of Santa Fe was arrested by deputies on Wednesday and charged with DWI and lacking proof of insurance. Schweigman, whose breath alcohol content was .12, was stopped at the sobriety checkpoint on Interstate 25 near Eldorado.
• Española police officers arrested Jerome Archuleta, 29, of Rancho de Taos, on Saturday and charged him with aggravated fleeing from police, aggravated DWI, careless driving, no license, no insurance and no registration. A report said Archuleta fled from an officer who tried to pull him over on N.M. 68, drove in to oncoming traffic and forced another driver to take evasive action and struck a curb, which resulted in damage that caused Archuleta to finally stop.
• Richard Rogers, 70, 5 Fonda Court in Eldorado, was arrested by Santa Fe police on Wednesday and charged with aggravated DWI. Rogers was stopped at a sobriety checkpoint on Interstate 25 near Eldorado and refused chemical testing.
• Deputies arrested Gary Kearns, 58, of Santa Fe on Wednesday and charged him with aggravated DWI and having an open container of alcohol in his car. Kearns refused chemical testing. He was arrested at a sobriety checkpoint on Interstate 25.
• Santa Fe police officers at the sobriety checkpoint on Interstate 25 arrested Elizabeth Lake, 25, of Rowe on Wednesday and charged her with DWI. Lake had a breath alcohol content of .12, according to a police report.
