On Saturday, The Sierra Club will host a strenuous hike up La Luz trail in the Sandia Mountains. This is a one-way uphill hike from the trail head or lower tram terminal. Hikers will be taking the tram back down the mountain. This is a great workout and is easy on the knees. The hike is 8 to 10 miles long with a 4,000-foot elevation gain. Call 690-8967.

On Sunday, the club is planning a strenuous hike to Shaggy Peak and Deer Creek near Glorieta. The hike is about 10 miles long with a 1,700-foot elevation gain. The hike includes some off-trail portions and great views from top of Shaggy. A cool dip in creek is optional. Dogs OK. Call 474-4354.

Next weekend, the club will host an easy birdwatch walk in the local area. Bring binocular. Call 466-6398. Also next weekend, the club will lead a moderate hike along the Winsor Trail. The hike is 7 to 8 miles long with a 900-foot maximum elevation gain. Dogs OK. Call 984-1253.
