November 11, 1908: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Plomteaux have returned home after a month's absence which they spent in touring the Republic of Mexico.

A.G. Whittier, who for the past several months has been chief clerk to the Law Revision Commission, has been appointed as clerk in the office of the territorial land commission, filling the vacancy caused by the death of the late Vernon K. Hurdon.

November 11, 1958: Gov. Edwin L. Mechem yesterday maintained his refusal to concede formally his defeat by Democrat John Burroughs last Tuesday. The unofficial Associated Press returns show Burroughs leading Mechem by approximately 2,000 votes.

Santa Fe parents and citizens Monday night demonstrated an enthusiastic interest in education as they flocked to American Education Week open houses at three city schools. At Salazar, largest elementary school in the city system, some 3,000 parents, grandparents, uncles, aunts and even citizens with no children or relatives in school crowded the classrooms to check up on progress.

November 11, 1983: The Santa Fe City Council Wednesday gave management of the city parking lots back to city staff, but not until after Mayor Louis Montano broke two tie votes on a decision one councilor said was made without the best interests of city residents in mind.

Los Alamos — Two dozen infrared laser beams were fired for the first time Wednesday, effectively marking the end of the construction program on the $62 million Antares laser at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Antares will be used to explore complicated physics questions relating to nuclear fusion, the source of power for the stars and the hydrogen bomb.
