May 8, 1908: First Lt. N.W. Campagnolli, of the First U.S. Infantry, has been assigned to duty as military attaché at the U.S. legation at Tokyo, Japan. He is a Santa Fe boy... He is a graduate of St. Michael's College of this city.

W.P. Metcalf of Albuquerque, a leader among New Mexico Socialists, has gone to Chicago to attend the national convention of Socialists which meets there next week.

May 8, 1958: Los Alamos — the Atomic Energy commission today gave final approval to the development of Barranca Mesa. This would be the first private home ownership program in this government-owned city.

May 8, 1983: Despite falling enrollment, the number of people employed by Santa Fe Public Schools has sky-rocketed in the past decade. Today there are 210 more people working as teachers, aides and other district support personnel than in 1973. However, the number of students has fallen by 960.
