May 7, 1908: Zook's Pharmacy is the name of the new drug store to be opened on May 15 by John N. Zook on the east side of the Plaza.

Capt. Smith H. Simpson of Taos reached the city yesterday en route to Albuquerque to attend the annual encampment of the Grand Army of the Republic of which he is a member.

May 7, 1958: Denver — Drilling for oil and gas wells in nine western states is running well ahead of last year's figure. In the first 4 months of this year 1,396 wells were completed. The figures compiled by Petroleum Information show that northern New Mexico led the other states.

May 7, 1983: The federal government, a national home-building organization and a local construction company have joined in an experimental, low-cost housing project off Airport Road southwest of Santa Fe. The project will use new low-cost materials and construction techniques to build ... homes ranging in size from 748 to 1,660 square feet and cost from $40,000 to $90,000. The homes are being built to make single-family houses available to individuals and couples with annual incomes of $20,000 to $30,000.
