One strike and you are out, Iran

Journalists often offer politicians an opportunity to dig themselves out of verbal missteps; for example, Hillary Clinton saying she would "obliterate Iran" if it attacked Israel. Surely, given the chance, she'd tone down the rhetoric and say that she really meant she would contain, or perhaps counter-attack, the rogue nation.

Not Hillary. Interviewed last Sunday, she stood squarely behind her "obliteration" fantasy, saying that she had been "very clear" about what she meant. Hillary would not embargo the nation, bomb its airstrips or military installations. Rather, if Iran misbehaves on her watch, the nation will cease to exist at America's hand. Top that one, George Bush.

No time like present
We elderly ask everyone to please help elect a female, Mrs. Clinton, to the presidency.

Think: We've had male presidents for centuries. We now have the opportunity to elect, to see a female president before God calls. If Mrs. Clinton is not elected, the elderly will never again have a chance to vote a Democratic female for president.

NDI delights
I guess I've been under some rock and luckily came out last Saturday to see the fabulous performance of 100 Years of American Music at the National Dance Institute.

What a treat! At the very beginning, I welled up, tears streaming down my face. I was so overwhelmed with the genuine love that poured out from the stage and all the 500 happy faces and jumping, swinging, tapping feet. The band was incredible, as were the two singers who accompanied this young group.

Bravi to all the performers, volunteers, patrons and board members who made this afternoon so wonderful.

Tried and true
How many times have we seen "new and improved" in big letters on a store shelf? Do we believe it? Not a chance. Some candidates for political office talk about "change" the same way. All hype and no substance. Should anyone believe them? Not a chance. We need officials with solid records of real accomplishments and proof of their capabilities and integrity. Re-elect Valerie Espinoza, our Santa Fe county clerk.
