HOUSTON — Former first lady Barbara Bush has been released from a Houston hospital a week after undergoing ulcer surgery.

A spokeswoman for Methodist Hospital says the former first lady was discharged Tuesday morning. She's in good condition and recovering as expected.

Bush, 83, was hospitalized a week ago for abdominal pains and underwent surgery for a perforated ulcer Nov. 25. During the surgery, doctors closed a nearly 1.5-centimeter hole caused by the ulcer. She began a liquid diet Monday after some test results came back normal.

Born in Ithaca, New York, MacCallum has lived in New Mexico since he was 5. He got into acting in his early teens, though a brief stint at college (University of California — he dropped out) and a year hitchhiking around America interrupted his artistic journey. »Story
