Convention Center gets top green rating

The city of Santa Fe's commitment to seek Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification has resulted in a Gold Rating for the Santa Fe Community Convention Center.

The LEED Rating System is an internationally recognized green building certification system designed to encourage and facilitate the development of more sustainable buildings, said a statement from Beverley Spears, the local architect for the center.

The Santa Fe Community Convention has been operating for just over one year.

Pak Mail seeks to up Food Depot donation

Last holiday season, the Pak Mail at the corner of Guadalupe Street and Montezuma Avenue delivered more than 1,100 pounds of food to the Food Depot on Siler Road.

The second annual drive has a goal of 2,000 pounds.

To encourage contributions, Pak Mail will give a $5 discount on shipping to anyone who brings in a grocery bag full of nonperishable items.

Pak Mail is owned by Kathleen Mulder.

Hours at the business are 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. This Saturday, though, the store will be open just 1 to 4 p.m.

Pak Mail's number is 989-7380.

Financial adviser White honored

Mallory White, branch manager and financial adviser at the 549 S. Guadalupe St. office of Raymond James Financial Services office, has been named to the firm's 2010 Executive Council in recognition of outstanding client service and exemplary professional growth, a statement said.

Executive Council honors are presented only to those financial advisers who have demonstrated an extremely high level of commitment to clients through personal service and professional integrity, the statement said.

White, who joined Raymond James in 1998, has more than 33 years of experience in the financial-services industry.

Smart Kids Group begins trading

Smart Kids Group Inc., a Santa Fe-based company and a global provider of children's digital education and entertainment, has begun trading on the OTC:BB exchange under the symbol SKGP.

The company will launch its global initiative to develop, distribute and license quality children's character-based "Edutainment" products through a variety of media including television, video, retail and direct marketing.

Bert and other Smart Kids characters are all products of the mind of Richard Shergold, founder and chief creative officer of Smart Kids Group.
