New Mexico State Police are investigating the fatal shooting Friday of a 56-year-old Española man.
Police said Anthony Garcia was shot and killed during a dispute Friday afternoon at the Santa Fe County housing complex on North McCurdy Road near Española.
He suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and died on the way to Española Valley Medical Center, police said.
Police spokesman Lt. Eric Garcia said investigators have a suspect in mind, but an arrest is pending further investigation.
He said Española police handed the investigation over to the State Police on Saturday.
Man charged with 10th DWI
A 51-year-old Española man was arrested Saturday and charged with his 10th DWI offense, State Police said.
They said Frank Anchondo was pulled over near N.M. 599 and Airport Road for a possible traffic offense, and the officer discovered that Anchondo was intoxicated.
He was booked into the Santa Fe County jail and charged with DWI, driving on a suspended or revoked license, concealing his identity, possessing an open container of an alcoholic beverage, no insurance and improper use of his auto registration.
