A five-car crash on Cerrillos Road on Friday night that likely involved alcohol killed at least one person and injured seven more, police said.
The collision occurred between 9:20 and 9:30 p.m. in the area across from Outback Steakhouse and the Santa Fe Auto Park when a Ford F-250 pickup rear-ended a four-door Chevrolet sedan, which then struck three more cars, said Santa Fe Police Chief Aric Wheeler.
A woman in her late teens, who was in the Chevy sedan, was confirmed dead as of about 10 p.m. Friday, he said. Two others in unspecified cars sustained life-threatening injuries, Wheeler said. Approximately eight people were riding in the five cars, he said.
Alcohol was suspected to be involved in the crash, though details were not available Friday night, Wheeler said.
