The amount that Thornburg Mortgage owes the Rodey Law Firm is much smaller than reported in a story and accompanying list in Saturday's edition of The New Mexican.

Santa Fe-based Thornburg Mortgage included a list of its 20 largest unsecured creditors in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition filed last week in a federal court in Maryland.

The amount listed for the Santa Fe office of Rodey, Dickason, Sloan, Akin and Robb is $2,345, not the much higher amount stated in the Saturday story.

Charles Vigil, managing director of the law firm, said in a statement issued Monday: "The Rodey Law Firm has received inquiries about our financial health since this story was published. We have been around 125 years, and we presently have 71 lawyers and 87 staff members inq our Albuquerque and Santa Fe offices. We want to assure our clients and friends of the firm that we are financially sound."

While the amounts listed in Saturday's newspaper for the eight largest unsecured creditors were accurate, the amounts listed for 10 other creditors were wrong. Correct dollar amounts for those creditors are:
  • Williams and Connelly LLP, $221,815
  • Sogeti USA, $33,242
  • IPS Sendero, $28,940
  • Overland Borenstein Scheper & Kim LLP, $25,000
  • West LB, $24,595
  • The Carlisle Group Inc., $7,500
  • Katten Muchin Riseman, $5,079
  • Faegre and Benson, $3,212
  • Dun and Bradstreet, $2,637
  • Rodey Dickason, $2,345
