Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain by 13 percentage points in New Mexico, according to a CNN/Time poll released Wednesday.

Obama led McCain 53 percent to 40 percent in the poll, which surveyed 659 registered voters between Sunday and Tuesday and has a 4 percent margin of error. When third-party candidates were included, Obama's lead nudged to 14 points, 50 percent to 36 percent. Those candidates include independent Ralph Nader, who received 8 percent, Libertarian Bob Barr and Green Cynthia McKinney, both of whom received less than 1 percent.

CNN/Time looked at four battleground states in all. In head-to-head polling, Obama led McCain 49 percent to 44 percent in Nevada and 48 percent to 43 percent in Pennsylvania, while McCain led 47 percent to 46 percent in Colorado.

In New Mexico, which provided razor-thin presidential elections in 2000 and 2004, polls have shown a back-and-forth struggle between Obama and McCain. Just this week, a Mason-Dixon poll of 400 likely voters in the state had McCain leading Obama 45 percent to 41 percent. Last week, a Rasmussen Reports poll of likely voters in New Mexico showed Obama leading McCain 47 percent to 41 percent.
