Two Santa Fe women and two men were arrested by a Santa Police SWAT team early Sunday morning at the Las Palomas apartment complex after two other men reported they were lured to a party by the women and then were robbed, and one of them was beaten.
Booked into the Santa Fe County jail on a variety of charges were Jorge Rascon, 27, Jessica Chavez, 23, and Donna Theragood-Archuleta, 20, all of Santa Fe.
A third female, a juvenile, also was involved, but her connection to the incident was unclear. Her probation on previous charges was revoked, and she was turned over to juvenile court authorities, Deputy Police Chief Robin Contreras said.
The second male suspect, Manuel Maef, 26, of Santa Fe was released, and possible charges were referred to the District Attorney's Office, Contreras said.
Investigators on Sunday evening were still trying to sort out exactly what happened.
The victims, identified as Chris Salgado, 27, and Richard Lucero, 31, both of Santa Fe, told police that Chavez and Theragood-Archuleta had approached them in a dark Cadillac while they were walking in the area of St. Michael's Drive and Hopewell Street about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. The women invited them to a party on Alamosa Drive, Contreras said.
The men went with the women, first to a residence in Las Palomas Apartments, 2001 Hopewell Street, and then to a residence at 2806 Alamosa Drive, the supposed site of the party, Contreras said.
There, the two allegedly were confronted by Rascon and Maef, who were armed with a knife and a .22-caliber rifle. Salgado and Lucero allegedly were robbed, and one of them beaten, while the other was held with the knife at his throat.
Contreras said the two victims somehow made their way back to Las Palomas Apartments in a blue Jeep, noted the Cadillac and the apartment where they had been, and called police.
The officers who responded, Contreras said, knocked on the apartment door, received no response and upon hearing possible metal sounds of a gun being readied, called in the SWAT team.
It was unclear from initial police reports whether SWAT team members were allowed into the apartment or whether they forced their way in.
However, Contreras said, no shots were fired by either side, and the suspects were arrested at about 5:30 a.m.
A rifle and knife were found in the Cadillac.
Rascon was charged with two counts of robbery, three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, felony aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, conspiracy and obstructing an officer.
Theragood-Archuleta and Chavez face charges of conspiracy and obstructing an officer.
