Santa Fe voters head to the polls today to elect four city councilors and a municipal judge and to weigh in on eight issues.
Twenty polling places, open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., will serve the city's 32 voting precincts.
Although there are 46,439 voters on the books, typical city elections draw less than 30 percent turnout.
City Clerk Yolanda Vigil spent Monday afternoon meeting with poll workers, who picked up ballot boxes at City Hall. The same workers will return the ballots after the polls close and will report vote totals from electronic machines that read paper ballots.
Election results will be posted on www.santafenewmexican.com throughout the evening.
Voters should note that three polling places are new for the city. In District 2, voters who previously cast ballots at St. John's Methodist Church will vote this year at the Unitarian Universalist Church. In District 3, Ortiz Middle School has replaced the Municipal Court, and in District 4, the Genoveva Chavez Community Center is replacing Piñon Elementary School as a polling place.
