A 24-year-old man was apparently robbed at the Big Tesuque campground Tuesday evening by a man wielding a shotgun, according to a sheriff's department news release.

The victim had been camping at the site when he was approached around 6:30 p.m. by at least three men who said they had car trouble.

One of the men carried a shotgun, according the news release. The victim was ordered to the ground, kicked and told to surrender his wallet and mobile phone.

The victim was struck to the back of the head with the shotgun and told to count to 100 while the assailants punctured the his truck's tires and broke its windows, according to the department.

A sheriff's deputy found the victim walking along Hyde Park Road later in the evening while checking into a report of an abandoned vehicle at the campground, which turned out to belong to the victim.

The contents of the victim's wallet included a credit card which was apparently used at Journey's at Santa Fe Place a few hours earlier.

Investigators are checking out leads in the case and have asked people with information to call Crime Stoppers at 955-5050.
